The Series:
This 193-page word family book contains 20 titles. Each title introduces a different word family as well several high frequency words and the beginning skills for reading. Each title offers students varied opportunity to develop a wider range of decoding skills, consonant and vowel recognition as well as concepts of print. Students will learn to discriminate onsets from rimes, utilize picture cues, develop a strong sense of graphophonics and semantics. As students begin to read and understand more about the onset and rime connection found in word families, they will begin to think of words as not only a series of individual letters and sounds, but as easily recognizable segments or chunks of language. This greatly enhances word attack and decoding skills. Vocabulary, sight word recognition, and comprehension will increase as well with the introduction of each new book.
How to Use This Series:
