Continents included in this game are: North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Australia, Middle East, Asia
Play as traditional snap, but instead of shouting "snap!" shout the name of the matching continents.
Instructions for Play:
- Deal out all the cards to each player.
- Each player puts their stack of cards FACE DOWN in front of them.
- Players take turns to place one card FACE UP in a stack of cards in front of all the players. This has to be done quickly and the card turned to face up at the latest possible moment!
- All players look to see if the card just placed on top of the pile matches the one below it.
- If yes, someone shouts out the name of the matching continent, eg "AFRICA!".
- The first person to shout the matching continent correctly gets to keep all the cards in the face-up stack. Play then continues from Step 3.
- If no, play then continues from Step 3.
- Continue play until all the cards in players face down stack have been played.
- The player who is the last one to play all his cards is the winner.
TIP: Each set is enough for two/three players. Just print more off for more players. Before the game, spend time looking at the cards and matching them up - and become familiar with the shapes and names of the continents.
When this game was made, I gave it to my 'children testers' -- my 12 year old daughter (who already knew her continents) and her 12 year old friend who doesn't. I wasn't looking for compliments, but the 12 year old friend said "Wow! What a cool game, I didn't know my continents but after playing this I am really learning them...my mum would love this, it's so educational...can I take it home?" --Jane Buckley, Author, New Zealand |
